The days that followed felt like an endless blur for Roshni. She had asked for space, but the truth was, she wasn't sure what that space was supposed to look like. Kabir had given her the room she needed, stepping back just enough to allow her to breathe, but his presence was always there, like a quiet undercurrent in the back of her mind.
Roshni tried to fill the gaps in her life with activities she had neglected before—she went out with her friends more, took on new projects at work, and even started picking up hobbies she had once enjoyed. There were moments when she felt like she was regaining control, like she was reclaiming her identity. But then there were moments, late at night when the house was quiet, when her thoughts would wander back to Kabir. She would wonder what he was doing, where he was, and if he was thinking about her too.
It wasn't that she didn't appreciate everything he had done for her. She did. But it was hard to reconcile the man who had shaped her life with the person she wanted to become. Kabir had made so many decisions for her, had taken control of so many aspects of her existence, that now, as she stood on her own, she wasn't sure what was truly her choice and what had been molded by him.
She started exercising more, taking long walks around the city, allowing her mind to wander. She began focusing on her health, something she had never prioritized before. Kabir had always kept her on a strict diet and workout routine, and at first, she had resisted it, but now she found herself enjoying the discipline, enjoying the changes in her body.
But as she walked down the street one day, she saw something that made her heart skip a beat—Kabir, standing across the road, watching her. He didn't move, didn't approach her, but just stood there, his gaze locked on her as if he could see right through her.
She froze for a moment, unsure of what to do. Was this another one of his subtle ways of keeping watch over her? The control, the possessiveness—it still lingered, even if he was trying to let go. Roshni knew that Kabir's love for her was not something she could easily escape from. And as much as she wanted to break free, a part of her still craved his presence, still longed for the security he had given her.
As she turned away and continued walking, her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. How could she be free when a part of her was still bound to him? And how could she love him when his love for her was so consuming, so overwhelming?
